On Sunday morning, Howell Township Police Officers were dispatched to the areas of Barrister Ct. and Vail Ln., for burglaries in progress. Both locations are within the same vicinity of each other.
These two ensuing incidents involved entry into these residences via an unlocked garage window and an unlocked rear sliding door. Once the suspects made entry into the house they stole car keys and other property. Among the cars stolen from these two residences were a grey 2024 Range Rover and a 2022 white Cadillac Escalade.
At least 3 suspects, dressed all in black, are believed to be involved in these crimes. The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department responded with a K-9 in an attempt to track the suspects. At this time all suspects still remain at large. The 2024 Range Rover stolen was later recovered in Jersey City per their police department.
Thieves have been entering homes throughout NJ in the early morning hours with the intent to locate key fobs for high-end vehicles. Once they have the fob they are able to steal the vehicle (oftentimes from inside the garage). Technology from car manufactures has made it much more difficult for criminals to steal vehicles without the keys. These organized crime groups will exploit any vulnerability in pursuit of obtaining the key fob.
