Hundreds of mispallelim packed Bais Hamedrash Lutzk in Lakewood on Wednesday morning for a special Keren Olam Hatorah campaign event led by the shul’s mara d’asra, Harav Zalman Sorotzkin shlit”a, in support of kollelim and yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel.
Joining the event was Harav Chaim Mordechai Ausband shlit”a, rosh yeshivas Ateres Shlomo, who addressed participants and encouraged supporting limud hatorah in Eretz Yisroel through Keren Olam Hatorah.
The response was immediate. Organizers reported that more than $100,000 was pledged within the first few minutes of the campaign’s launch, with contributions continuing to climb throughout the event as participants stepped forward to take part.
A central feature of the gathering was the opportunity for attendees to sign a shtar shutfus, formally partnering in the support of Torah study by sponsoring one or more yungeleit or bochurim for the coming year. Dozens of participants took advantage of the opportunity.
Organizers announced that Rav Ausband will return to Bais Hamedrash Lutzk on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., providing an additional opportunity for community members to sign a shtar shutfus and participate in the campaign.
