In the aftermath of New Jersey’s primary elections, R’ Lazer Scheiner, the philanthropic force behind the Adirei Hatorah movement and one of the chief architects of Lakewood’s get-out-the-vote effort, released a message Tuesday night celebrating what a historic victory — despite the results not aligning with the community’s preferred outcome.
More than 20,000 Orthodox Jewish voters from Lakewood and surrounding communities turned out to vote in Tuesday’s primaries, a number that is roughly ten times greater than any previous primary election turnout in Lakewood’s history.
Alongside askan Tzvi Herman and with the strong backing of local rabbanim and roshei yeshiva, R’ Lazer helped lead an unprecedented grassroots campaign urging frum residents to vote — particularly in support of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Josh Gottheimer, seen as a reliable friend to the Orthodox community.
Although Gottheimer did not emerge victorious, R’ Lazer emphasized that the massive frum turnout itself sent a powerful message: Lakewood is now a serious political force that votes with unity and listens to daas Torah.
Lazer is from Monsey NY. Can someone please explain why is mixing into Jersey politics and ordering us to vote for an anti Trump lowlife who was polling in 3rd or 4th place.
Answer – self interest !!!!!
The same reason he got involved in TRIPLING the yungeleit in Lakewood’s kollel check.
Great job. Let’s back someone who is for sure going to lose.
That will play well with whoever is eventually governor and knows we openly backed someone else!!!
Fire idea!
Innovative!
