Registration has reopened for New Jersey’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), offering limited opportunities for eligible Ocean County families to receive help paying for child care.
CCAP provides financial assistance to qualifying families so parents can work or participate in approved education or training programs. Ocean County applications are processed by Children’s Home Society (CHS).
Officials from the LRRC stress that completing the online registration form is only the first step in being considered for benefits and that available slots are limited.
Registration is currently open only to families in specific priority groups. These include families with children experiencing homelessness, families with children with special needs, and families with household incomes below 100 percent of the federal poverty level. Income thresholds range from $26,650 for a family of three to $54,150 for a family of eight.
Even families within priority groups who are invited to apply are not guaranteed assistance, LRRC said, noting that funding constraints limit the number of households that can ultimately be served.
Families who believe they may qualify are encouraged to register as soon as possible at www.childcarenj.gov. If space is available, applicants will receive an email from noreply@mynjhelps.gov with instructions and a personalized application link.
LRRC also offers in-person assistance during regular walk-in hours, allowing families to use center computers to complete the registration. Case-specific questions can be addressed by scheduling an appointment at lrrcenter.org/appt, calling (732) 523-1789, or emailing questions@lrrcenter.org.
Officials said they do not yet know how many slots will be available or whether additional funding will be released in the future.
