Lakewood’s Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus Adding An 8-Bed Psych Unit

Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood is laying the groundwork to open its first psych-medical unit, which will have eight beds to begin with.

As things currently stand, patients who require hospitalization for psych-related issues generally require transports to hospitals rather far away, with the favorite generally being Cornell in Manhattan. It is hoped that this new local psych unit will alleviate unnecessary travel for some patients.

MMCSC is currently working to staff the planned unit, and are actively recruiting medical personnel, including RNs interested in behavioral health, MHAs, and CCTs.

A job fair will be held on Thursday from 10-2 in the hospital’s atrium specifically geared towards medical professionals who are interested in working in a psych-medical unit.
