Lakewood Township has announced that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will conduct in-person interviews for its popular Global Entry Program in Lakewood this August, following extensive coordination between township officials and federal authorities. The interviews are expected to take place at the Lakewood Municipal Building, with the exact date and time to be announced.
The event marks the first time CBP will offer Global Entry interviews in Ocean County and one of the few times such interviews have been conducted in New Jersey outside of Newark Liberty International Airport.
A limited number of interview slots will be available exclusively for Lakewood residents who have already received conditional approval from CBP. Residents interested in participating must submit their Global Entry application and receive conditional approval by July 31. Officials note that the approval process can take several weeks or longer, and applicants are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible.
Global Entry provides expedited processing through U.S. Customs at participating airports and automatically includes TSA PreCheck benefits at no additional cost once enrollment is complete. The application fee is $120 for adults, while children under 18 may apply free of charge if a parent or legal guardian is an active Global Entry member or has a pending application.
Additional details regarding interview scheduling and registration will be released in the coming weeks. Township officials emphasized that conditional approval does not guarantee an interview slot in Lakewood, though approved applicants may still schedule interviews at other CBP enrollment centers.
Applications can be submitted through CBP’s official Global Entry website, and travelers are advised to provide accurate information, as errors or omissions may result in disqualification from the program.
