Mayor Ray Coles and Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Phil Roux urge Lakewood residents to take important steps today (Friday) to prepare for the significant winter storm that has been predicted to impact our area starting tonight, into tomorrow.
Following these guidelines will help keep residents safe and enable crews to clear snow off the roads as quickly and efficiently as possible:
- If at all feasible, please do not leave any vehicles parked on the road.
- If removing your vehicle from the road is not feasible, please leave them parked on the even-numbered side of the street only. Single-sided parking will make it easier for snow plows to navigate the roads.
- Please remove all trash and recycling cans from the street by Friday night.
“The presence of vehicles or bins on the road can severely hinder our efforts to clear the streets and make them safe,” Director Roux explains. “We thank our residents in advance for their cooperation and prompt action on this matter, which will significantly enhance our ability to manage this storm’s impact.”
“Weather forecasting is far from an exact science, but we do know for sure that we are looking at very messy – and potentially dangerous – weather conditions,” says Mayor Coles. “Please be extremely careful when walking and follow the DPW guidelines. Wishing all of Lakewood a happy, safe weekend.”
