Patrick Donnelly, Municipal Manager for the Township of Lakewood, has been named 2026 Municipal Manager of the Year by Gov Business Review, earning recognition for his leadership in overseeing one of New Jersey’s fastest-growing municipalities.
In announcing the honor, Donnelly said the award reflects the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the entire Township of Lakewood team. He noted that managing the rapid growth of New Jersey’s fourth-largest municipality is a collective effort and credited the township’s department heads, staff, and residents for helping move Lakewood forward each day.
Donnelly said his leadership philosophy focuses on empowering capable employees by providing them with the tools, trust, and support they need to succeed, rather than micromanaging.
The recognition is featured in Gov Business Review under the cover story titled, “Building What’s Next While Managing What’s Now.”
