In the bustling town of Lakewood, maintaining optimal traffic flow is crucial to residents’ quality of life. To address the challenges posed by exponential population and economic growth, Township, County, and State officials are working together to implement road improvements.
However, road projects can cause significant traffic disruptions, making it essential to carefully plan and schedule these improvements. Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller and Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein are working to concentrate road work during periods of lightest traffic, such as the upcoming weeks of August 12th through September 2nd.
Several key projects are set to be completed during this time, including improvements at the railroad crossing on Seventh Street and Park Avenue, Frances Street, Manetta Avenue, Swarthmore Avenue, and Brookfield Drive.
Lakewood’s leaders are navigating the bureaucracies of three separate government entities to effectively commence and schedule improvement projects. A comprehensive five-year calendar has been presented to officials, detailing optimal dates for projects.
Individual projects have unique dynamics, and officials are working to minimize disruptions. For example, a project in the Oberlin and Vassar Avenues area was postponed to October to avoid disrupting local day camps.
Through careful planning and coordination, Lakewood officials aim to ensure a quicker, smoother ride for residents and commuters while minimizing traffic disruptions.
