A vehicle stolen in Lakewood Monday night was crashed within minutes by the suspect fleeing the scene, injuring another driver and nearly striking a firetruck in the process.
The theft occurred around 8 p.m. The suspect lost control shortly after and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Route 88 and Clover Street. A firetruck in the area narrowly avoided being struck as well.
The suspect fled on foot immediately after the crash. Lakewood Police were searching for him. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
