Lakewood Shomrim’s Shabbos division convened to finalize patrol plans aimed at bolstering community safety. The meeting, held Thursday night, brought together Shomrim volunteers, elected officials, and community leaders. The group reviewed security protocols and reinforced their readiness to provide heightened patrols during Shabbos and Yom Tov observances.
A poignant moment came when a local mother addressed the gathering, describing the peace of mind Shomrim’s presence gives families. “Knowing they are out there allows us to celebrate with security and confidence,” she said.
Shomrim’s Shabbos division is one of the organization’s most specialized units, composed of members who undergo rigorous training to respond to emergencies with professionalism and sensitivity. Officials say the unit is prepared to handle a wide range of situations, from neighborhood disturbances to urgent security threats.
Officials underscored the importance of Shomrim’s work, noting its coordination with both local government and law enforcement. The partnership, they said, enhances community trust and ensures residents across Lakewood’s diverse population benefit from the group’s services.
Shomrim leadership emphasized that the organization is not confined to any one group but provides safety and support across Lakewood’s neighborhoods. “Our commitment is to unity and respect,” one leader said. “Every resident deserves to feel secure.”
With preparations complete, Shomrim members will now deploy across town during the busy holiday season, in what officials described as one of the largest coordinated patrol efforts of the year.
Lakewood Shomrim closed its meeting with a message wishing the community “a safe and healthy New Year.”
