Drivers should once again prepare for overnight road closures and traffic detours Tuesday night as roadwork and utility infrastructure projects continue in Lakewood.
A New Jersey Department of Transportation contractor will conduct overnight paving operations beginning at 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Work will include repaving approximately 200 feet of the westbound Route 70 ramp, along with sections of Walnut Street, Locust Street and Honey Locust Drive.
To accommodate the paving work, Route 9 will be fully closed between Chestnut Street and Route 70 from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Southbound traffic on Route 9 will be detoured via Cross Street to Massachusetts Avenue and then onto Route 70 East. Northbound motorists will be directed from Route 70 East to New Hampshire Avenue before reconnecting with Route 9 at Chestnut Street.
In a separate project, New Jersey Natural Gas will continue infrastructure improvements along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Cedar Bridge Avenue and Center Street beginning at 8 p.m.
Officials said one lane of traffic will remain open between Cedar Bridge Avenue and Pine Street during the work. Drivers seeking access to Cedar Bridge Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will be detoured via Center Street.
