Lakewood Residents Donating Heavily To Ron DeSantis, But Not Donald Trump

Lakewood is known to be a heavily conservative, pro-Trump township. But what if I told you that Trump is not the most popular presidential candidate in Lakewood? While some may find that hard to believe, it certainly seems to be the case if you look at contributions made to the various presidential campaigns.

According to filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Trump is getting clobbered by Ron DeSantis – at least in fundraising from Lakewood residents. Of course, Trump is still leading nationally in every poll, but these numbers may give some insight into who Lakewood residents want as the Republican nominee in 2024.

According to the filings, Donald Trump has so far received $980.10 from Lakewood residents. Not bad, but now look at what DeSantis has gotten. According to the FEC, the Florida governor has raked in $145,200 from Lakewood residents alone – nearly 150 times what Trump has gotten.

Only two other Republican candidates have received any donations from Lakewood residents; Chris Christie received $3,300 and Nikki Haley got a total of $65.

One important note: these numbers are only donations made directly to presidential campaigns. Donations made to Super PACs that support specific candidates, such as Trump’s Save America PAC and DeSantis’ Never Back Down PAC, are not public.

  1. Why are Lakewood people donating heavily to Ron DeSantis campaign… Unfortunately he hasn’t voiced his opinion on the gdl and neo nazi march taking place in Orlando, it’s very concerning that not once and not twice has he ignored the matter. Do your homework before supporting someone who doesn’t support you/us!

    • I hate to break it to you, but the neo natzi March said openly that they hate him. That was debunked yesterday. The truth is, DeSantis has a more likely chance of winning than Trump. Tell me how Independents are going to vote for him when the last 4 elections have shown them running away from him. Trumps unfavorables are very high. If he gets the nomination, explain how Trump is going to convince people to vote for a felon? I so far have yet to hear a compelling argument for why Trump can win. Explain how we know for sure that the next time a crisis happens that he won’t give his presidency over to another offici5. If you look at DeSantis, he has a vision and has shown that he gets things done. Sorry if you need a show. I prefer results.

  2. i am voting ramaswamy. he has a much better chance of winning a democrat. he is a fabulous orator.
if he doesn’t get the nomination i back trump all the way.
