Authorities are investigating the death of a Lakewood man whose body was discovered in a Toms River waterway late last week.
Ocean County Prosecutor Brad Billhimer announced that Toms River Township Police officers were dispatched to an area behind Point O’ Woods Drive following a report of a body floating in the water.
Upon arrival, officers located the deceased individual, later identified as 45-year-old Julian Lopez-Martinez of Lakewood. His body was recovered from the water and examined by the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, which reported no visible signs of trauma.
“The cause of death is pending toxicology results. The death of Mr. Lopez-Martinez does not appear to be suspicious at this time,” Prosecutor Billhimer said in a statement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
