Craig Theibault, the president of the Lakewood Republican Club and a dedicated public servant who worked for decades to strengthen civic life in Lakewood, has passed away, Lakewood Alerts has learned. Mr. Theibault, who had been battling a serious illness, was recently honored by Lakewood Township with a garden dedication in his name.
Just two weeks ago, family, friends, and local officials gathered at Pine Park for the dedication of the new “Theibault Family Garden,” a colorful and peaceful space created to recognize Craig’s years of community involvement. Located alongside the Lakewood Historical Museum, the garden celebrates not only Craig’s personal contributions but also the deep roots of the Theibault family in Lakewood, tracing back to the Rockefeller era.
Craig Theibault’s years of service included roles on the Lakewood Shade Tree Commission, the Municipal Utilities Authority, and as a leading figure in the local Republican Party. His dedication to Lakewood’s civic well-being left a lasting legacy, reflected in the recent outpouring of gratitude from local leaders and neighbors.
The garden features a vibrant mix of flowers and plants, including a Japanese Red Cut Leaf Maple Tree planted for Arbor Day 2025. Brickwork inscriptions, a wood entranceway, fencing, benches, and a modern irrigation system sponsored by A&C Sprinkler of Toms River complete the picturesque spot, which was planted and maintained with the help of the Lakewood Department of Public Works.
At the dedication ceremony, Craig was surrounded by his wife Gina, family members from as far away as Delaware and Florida, a large circle of friends, members of the Lakewood Township Committee, State Senator Bob Singer, Ocean County Commissioner Virginia Haines, and numerous other government officials.
