Lakewood Reminds Residents of Primary Election Voter Registration Deadline
Lakewood Township is reminding residents that the deadline to register to vote in this year’s Primary Election is Tuesday, May 12.
The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2. Races on the ballot will include U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Lakewood Township Committee and Ocean County Committee.
Residents who wish to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary must be registered with that party. Unaffiliated voters may vote in either party’s primary by declaring a party affiliation at the polling place. The deadline for voters already registered as Democrats or Republicans to switch parties in time for the primary has already passed.
Key dates for the 2026 Primary Election include the May 12 voter registration deadline, the May 26 deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot by mail, early voting from May 26 through May 31, and Primary Election Day on June 2.
Residents seeking more information about the 2026 primary election or voter registration can visit the Ocean County Clerk’s website or call 732-929-2018. Voter registration forms are also available at the Lakewood Municipal Building, located at 231 Third Street.
