The Lakewood Police Department will take part in the statewide “Goal: Zero” traffic safety campaign on Tuesday, April 14, as part of an effort to reduce serious crashes and improve roadway safety.
The initiative is designed to achieve zero fatalities and zero serious injuries on roadways through a combination of increased enforcement and public awareness. During the campaign, officers will conduct high-visibility patrols targeting behaviors most commonly associated with serious and fatal crashes.
Authorities said enforcement efforts will focus on speeding, distracted driving, driving under the influence, and failure to obey traffic laws.
Officials emphasized that the campaign is not only about issuing citations, but also about encouraging safer driving habits across the community.
“Our goal is simple: everyone gets home safely,” the department said in a statement.
The campaign is being conducted in coordination with law enforcement agencies across New Jersey as part of a broader statewide traffic safety initiative.
