Lakewood Police Launch “Cops In Crosswalks” Pedestrian Safety Campaign

On Sunday, the Lakewood Police Department held its first of several “Cops in Crosswalks” detail. This is in response to our Pedestrian Safety Campaign.  This detail was held on Clifton Avenue at Third Street from 9am to 12:30pm.

In the course of 3.5 hours, three officers were able to make contact with 52 vehicles who violated the “Stopping/Yielding for persons IN THE crosswalk” law.

Although this was an educational detail, some summonses were issued and one vehicle was impounded for Expired Registration and not having valid insurance.
