The Lakewood Police Department is mourning the passing of Eugene A. Vigna, a former Lakewood Police officer and dedicated public servant. Mr. Vigna passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 91, at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood.
Born in Jersey City, Mr. Vigna resided in Lakewood for over 40 years before moving to Manchester in 2003. He proudly served the Lakewood community as a Detective Sergeant with the Lakewood Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1981. Prior to his law enforcement career, Mr. Vigna served in the US Army in Korea from 1953-1955.
A devoted family man, Mr. Vigna is survived by his children, Steven, Eugene, Susan, Nancy, and Anne, as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His wife, Marcella, predeceased him in 2023.
