Lakewood Police Captain Leroy Marshall, Local Teacher Diane Oxley Running For BOE In Toms River

A Lakewood police captain is expanding his communal work by submitting paperwork to run for a seat on the Toms River Regional Board of Education.

There are two open seats on the Toms River BOE, as two current members are not seeking reelection. Michele Williams is seeking a seat on the Toms River Council and thus cannot also run for a BOE spot, while BOE member Lisa Contessa has not filed paperwork to run again. A third seat also up for election is currently held by Ashley Lamb, who is running for reelection.

Campaigning to get those seats is Lakewood police officer Leroy Marshall, a well-liked captain in the department, who is running along with James Capone, a Toms River pizzeria owner, under the slogan “For the Students.”

Also running for a seat is Diane Oxley, a kindergarten teacher at Ocean Academy Charter School in Lakewood.
