Lakewood Police have arrested a 22-year-old Toms River woman in connection with a shoplifting incident that allegedly escalated into an assault by auto at a business on Princeton Avenue.
According to police, the incident occurred on May 31, when the suspect stole merchandise from the store before fleeing in a vehicle. Investigators say a store employee attempting to document the vehicle’s information was forced to move out of the way as the vehicle was allegedly driven toward him while leaving the scene.
Following an investigation, officers identified Jayonna Doyle as the suspect. Doyle surrendered herself at Lakewood Police Headquarters on June 17, where she was arrested and charged with Shoplifting and Assault by Auto.
She was subsequently processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings.
