Lakewood Police arrested two township residents following a proactive traffic stop that led to the discovery of suspected narcotics during the early morning hours of June 20.
According to police, an officer stopped a vehicle at approximately 1:15 a.m. after observing multiple traffic violations. During the investigation, officers learned that one of the occupants had several outstanding warrants. A K-9 unit responded to the scene and alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search allegedly recovered suspected crack cocaine, additional suspected narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.
Rondell Murray, 72, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and several motor vehicle violations. Daniel Meadows, 42, was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were transported to the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings.
Chief Gregory Meyer praised the officers involved, saying their proactive policing efforts continue to help remove illegal narcotics from the streets and keep the community safe.
