The Lakewood Planning Board has given approval to Yeshiva Gedolah of South Jersey, led by Rav Shalom Strickman, for the building of a new campus at 105 Newport Avenue, off of Cross Street.
The yeshiva, which is geared toward post-Eretz Yisroel bochurim, is currently located in a small structure at 411 Cross Street, but the need for a fully functioning yeshiva campus has grown with each year since being founded a decade ago.
The yeshiva plans to erect a main yeshiva building with a bais medrash, classrooms, and a 2,200 square foot banquet hall/dining room, as well as a second 528 square foot dining room. The yeshiva also plans to tear down an existing structure on the property to build a dormitory. Additionally, the plans call for the construction of two residential homes on the property for the use of yeshiva faculty.
The Banquet Hall will actually be a total of 4,052 square feet (not including the two men/women coatrooms) – which is HUGE – after phase 2 (adding another 1844 SF) is complete.
Best of luck to the neighbors getting in/out of their driveways.
