A serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Cedarbridge Avenue and Clover Street early Tuesday morning left multiple people injured.
Police and emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:15 a.m. after reports of a vehicle overturned on its roof. Responders arrived to find two vehicles heavily damaged — one flipped upside down and a sedan with severe impact damage to its passenger side.
Multiple patients were treated at the scene before being transported by EMS to local hospitals with varying degrees of injury. The extent of those injuries was not immediately known.
The intersection was temporarily shut down as Lakewood Police investigated the cause of the crash and cleanup crews worked to clear the debris. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
The Lakewood Police Department’s Traffic and Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
