Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Timothy Myers, 52, of Lakewood, was sentenced to ten years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to charges of possessing more than half an ounce of cocaine with intent to distribute. The sentencing was handed down by Judge Kenneth T. Palmer, following Myers’ guilty plea in June.
The case stems from an incident on July 4, 2023, when detectives from the Lakewood Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit observed suspicious activity involving a Ford Expedition on John Street. Detectives saw the vehicle make a sudden U-turn before parking on Jay Street. A female passenger exited the Expedition, briefly entered a nearby Mercedes-Benz, and then returned to the Expedition, prompting detectives to approach the vehicle.
During the encounter, Myers, the driver, was asked to exit the vehicle. A search of Myers and his vehicle uncovered approximately 23 grams of cocaine, packaged for resale, along with two bricks of heroin. Myers was subsequently arrested and taken to the Ocean County Jail but was released under New Jersey Bail Reform provisions.
Prosecutor Billhimer praised the work of Assistant Prosecutor Alexander Becker, who managed the case, as well as the Lakewood Township Police Department and the Street Crimes Unit for their effective collaboration in bringing the case to a resolution. This investigation, he noted, led to Myers’ guilty plea and his subsequent state prison sentence.
