Lakewood Man Arrested After Foot Chase on Ocean Avenue

A Lakewood man was arrested Friday following a brief foot pursuit that began near railroad tracks on Ocean Avenue and ended with the recovery of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Officers assigned to the Lakewood Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were on patrol near 160 Ocean Avenue when they observed what authorities described as suspicious activity in the area of the railroad tracks.

When officers approached to investigate, the individual fled on foot. During the pursuit, the suspect ran into the roadway and narrowly avoided being struck by a passing vehicle before officers were able to apprehend him a short distance away.

Police said a search conducted incident to the arrest uncovered a small quantity of crack cocaine, a glass pipe, and a box-cutter-style knife.

The suspect was identified as Felix Fernando Sierra Fabian, a resident of Lakewood.
He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance, obstruction, and resisting arrest by flight.

Authorities said Fabian was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
