Lakewood DPW Urges Zone 2 Residents to Prepare Leaves Promptly Ahead of Pickup

The Lakewood Department of Public Works is advising residents in Zone 2—those whose garbage is collected on Tuesdays—to prepare their leaves for pickup ahead of next week’s scheduled collection.

Leaf collection for Zone 2 is set for Monday, December 8 through Friday, December 12. However, DPW Director Phil Roux noted that crews may begin work earlier than scheduled, including during weekend hours, to get a head start. As a result, homeowners are strongly encouraged to have their leaves ready by Friday afternoon.

Residents should rake leaves to the curbline, placing them in loose, open piles rather than bags. Piles must be free of wood, brush, dirt, or other debris, and should be positioned at least 10 feet from storm drains to prevent blockages.

“We would like to thank Lakewood residents for making the leaf collection process smooth and efficient,” Roux said. “The DPW looks forward to continue working towards making Lakewood as clean, safe and beautiful as can be.”
