The Lakewood Fire Department’s Engine Company No. 1 transitioned from a volunteer fire company to a full-time career fire company this evening. This significant reorganization brings the number of full-time paid fire companies in Lakewood to three, further enhancing fire protection and emergency response in the area.
The ceremony celebrated not only the reorganization but also the promotion of four firefighters to the rank of Lieutenant and the swearing-in of six newly hired firefighters. These additions reflect the township’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its growing community.
Among those in attendance were Committeemen Meir Lichtenstein and Menashe Miller, Ocean County Commissioner Frank Sadeghi and Assemblyman Avi Schnall.
The event included the rededication of Engine Company No. 1, the formal swearing-in of new officers and firefighters, and a reception for community members to meet the team and tour the newly renovated firehouse.
