Lakewood Brewery Selling New Beer to Help Ukrainians

A Lakewood brewery is teaming up with a Ukrainian one to help raise funds for the war-torn country.

Icarus Brewing, which is headquartered on Swarthmore Ave. in Lakewood, has teamed up with the Ukrainian Pravda Brewery, and will use Pravda’s recipe for a beer to create and distribute it in New Jersey. The proceeds will go to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

“They posted up a few recipes – one was for their strong golden ale. Some things were very similar to what we do here and some things were very foreign to us and we adapted as best as we can,” said Icarus head brewer Jason Goldstein, News12 reported.

“We’re going to be donating 100% of all of our profits from it to Pravda Brewing and their humanitarian efforts, as well as their kitchen, as well as to another charity that will help both refugees and those still in Ukraine,” he said.

Pravda Brewery itself, which is located in Western Ukraine, has suspended its beer brewing operations and has pivoted to helping the war effort, including providing its bottles to be used for the creation of Molotov cocktails.
