With Pesach approaching in the coming weeks, Lakewood Township and Ocean County officials convened Thursday morning to coordinate public safety and logistical planning tied to the busy holiday season.
The meeting focused on preparations for anticipated public activities, including designated trash drop-off sites, expanded sanitation pickup schedules, approved pre-Pesach fire locations and permit and fire safety protocols for Lag Ba’omer bonfire celebrations.
Participating in the session were Township Committeeman and Emergency Services Liaison Meir Lichtenstein; Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer; Lakewood Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr; Department of Public Works Director Phil Roux; and Ocean County Fire Marshal Dennis Allen, along with additional senior officials from the respective agencies.
Officials reviewed preliminary plans and discussed measures aimed at enhancing both safety and operational efficiency during the high-activity period leading up to Pesach and Lag Ba’omer. The coordination effort is designed to address increased sanitation needs, fire safety considerations and public compliance with permitting requirements.
According to township officials, detailed information — including site locations, hours of operation and safety protocols — will be released in the coming weeks.
“Once again, it was inspiring to see Municipal and County agencies working together so professionally and effectively towards the common goal of how to best serve the people,” Lichtenstein said following the meeting. “We look forward to a safe and pleasant holiday season for all.”
