Lakewood and Jackson police SWAT teams are conducting a joint training exercise at a soon-to-be-demolished home on County Line Road in Jackson, with staging taking place in the NPGS parking lot. The exercise is designed to prepare officers for high-risk situations, including potential barricade scenarios involving armed individuals.
Jackson, which does not have a fully-staffed SWAT team, often collaborates with nearby townships like Lakewood for specialized training missions. This exercise focuses on entering homes where hostile elements may be present, a critical skill for both police forces.
Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz expressed his gratitude to property owner Duvy Schwimmer for allowing the police departments to utilize the soon-to-be-demolished home for the exercise. “Training like this is essential for ensuring that our officers are prepared for any situation that may arise,” Kunz said. “Thanks to Mr. Schwimmer’s generosity, we are able to hone our skills in a realistic setting, which will ultimately help protect our communities.”
