As we enjoy the beautiful Spring weather, Lakewood Township’s engineers, crews and contractors are in overdrive to complete as many infrastructure improvement projects as feasible.
Lead Township Engineer Tony Poklasny explains that the current not-too-cold, not-too-hot weather is the most ideal environment in which to lay pavement, so that it is as smooth and solid as possible, with the fewest complications.
Some of the beautiful newly completed road paving projects include Park Avenue between East 7h Street and County Line Road; nearby Leonard and Rosebank Streets; and Brookfield Drive and August Drive in Raintree. The Township is now hard at work to complete the next round of approved road paving projects as quickly as possible: 6th Street between Lexington Avenue and Marys Lane; East 7th Street between Princeton and Park Avenues; and East 9th Street between Park and East End Avenues.
In addition to newly paved roads, many Lakewood residents are also enjoying newly paved walkways. These paved Hot Mixed Asphalt (HMA) sidewalks enable people to safely and comfortably walk off the road, in areas where it is not currently feasible to place conventional concrete sidewalks. Lakewood Township crews have recently completed HMA walkways along a large stretch of Albert Avenue, south of Pine Street, as well as some of the side streets in the neighborhood.
Township officials are constantly working at the Municipal level – as well as with County and/or State officials, when necessary – to design, fund and do the on-ground work necessary for diverse infrastructure projects throughout Lakewood.
