KILLER ON THE LOOSE: Man Charged in Toms River Hookah Lounge Murder Being Sought by Police

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Township Chief of Police Mitchell A. Little announced that Eric Manzanares, 22, of Asbury Park, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Nymere Tinsley, 25, of Brick Township, in Toms River on August 27.

On August 27, 2022, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Officers from Toms River Township Police Department responded to the Top Tier Hookah Lounge located at 1769 Hooper Avenue for a report of gunshots having been fired.

Responding Officers found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Tinsley suffered a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other victims were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries: Anthony Miller, 29, of Neptune Township, suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, was treated for his injuries and released; Jamal Bland, 24, of Asbury Park, suffered a gunshot wound to his elbow, and was likewise treated and released.

A thorough and extensive investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, has determined that Manzanares was responsible for the shooting of all three victims.

Manzanares has not yet been taken into custody, and is considered a fugitive from justice. As such, a warrant for his arrest has been issued and his name has been entered in the National Crime Information Center database.

“Great teamwork has been exhibited by all of the respective law enforcement agencies and officers involved in this investigation. Our focus now is to find Eric Manzanares and bring him into custody.

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Eric Manzanares should contact Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027 extension 2476, or Detective Jennifer Grob of the Toms River Township Police Department at 732-349-0150,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.
