The Jackson Township Council voted Thursday evening to appoint longtime public servant Ken Bressi to fill the council seat left vacant by the recent passing of Councilman Scott Sargent.
Bressi is no stranger to Jackson’s municipal leadership. His decades-long record of public service to the township dates back to 1989 and includes roles as mayor, deputy mayor, committeeman, council president, council vice president, and councilman. He has also served in key planning and zoning positions, including as chairman of the Planning Board and as a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Bressi previously left the council in 2020 but was tapped to return in light of his experience and longstanding dedication to the township. Before entering public service, Bressi served in the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
The council expressed confidence that Bressi’s knowledge of township affairs and deep-rooted commitment to public service make him well-suited to step into the role during this transitional time.
A special election for the seat he now occupies will be held in November. It isn’t clear if Bressi intends to run in that election.
