An estimated 15,000-20,000 people packed into the area of 10th and Clifton in Lakewood as they welcomed 6 senior roshei yeshiva from Eretz Yisroel to Lakewood. A thunderstorm rolling through Lakewood at the beginning of the event didn’t dampen the unmistakable spirit and camaraderie, as machshivei torah turned out in droves to support their colleagues in limud hatorah in Eretz Yisroel.
The six roshei yeshiva – Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, Rav Yaakov Hillel, Rav Don Segal, Rav Dov Landau, the Rachmastrivker Rebbe and Rav Avraham Salim – are on a whirlwind fundraising trip to the United States, in an attempt to raise $107 million – the figure the Israeli government recently cut in funding to yeshivos and kollelim across Eretz Hakodesh.
