A false Tsunami Warning erroneously issued by the NWS Tsunami Warning Center on Tuesday afternoon caused some palpitations, but thankfully does not appear to have resulted in any widespread panic.
The emergency alert went out on some apps and was sent to certain phones all along the East Coast, including the entirety of the Jersey Shore.
Thankfully, there was no danger, and there was no incoming tsunami.
This wasn’t the first time a false Tsunami Warning was issued. In 2019, many Hawaii residents were thrown into panic as Tsunami warning sirens blared across Oahu and Maui islands.
Just a few months prior to that, there was widespread terror when an alert was erroneously sent to the Hawaii residents warning of an incoming ballistic missile.
