Jackson Township officials are urging residents to move vehicles off township streets ahead of a significant winter storm expected to impact the area late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Current forecasts project up to 7 inches of snow, with snowfall expected to begin late Friday afternoon and intensify overnight.
Township Public Works crews will begin salt-spreading operations Friday afternoon, with a full fleet of snowplows scheduled to deploy early Saturday morning as conditions warrant.
Officials stress that parked vehicles on
roadways significantly hinder snow removal and salting operations, slowing response times and creating hazardous conditions for both drivers and emergency responders.
“Clearing our streets of parked vehicles is one of the most important ways residents can help us keep Jackson safe during a storm,” said Council President Mordechai Burnstein. “Our crews will be out working through the storm, but they can only do their jobs effectively if roadways are clear. We’re asking for everyone’s cooperation so plows and salters can move quickly and safely.”
Residents are encouraged to park vehicles in driveways before the storm begins and to avoid unnecessary travel during the height of the snowfall. Snowplows and emergency vehicles and snowplows rely on unobstructed roadways to operate efficiently.
Jackson Township will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed. Residents are reminded to exercise caution while driving, allow extra time for travel, and follow all posted advisories.
