The Jackson Township Council has approved the second reading of an ordinance amending the township’s traffic regulations to prohibit parking, stopping, or standing along a portion of Pitney Lane.
Under the newly adopted measure, the west side of Pitney Lane—from the southern curbline of South Cooks Bridge Road to a point 980 feet south—will now be added to the township’s official “No Parking, Stopping or Standing” schedule.
The ordinance, which modifies Chapter 103 of the Jackson Municipal Code, is intended to improve traffic safety and ensure emergency access in the affected area. The council noted that this change comes in response to growing concerns about congestion and visibility issues along the stretch of road, particularly during peak hours.
All ordinances conflicting with the new provision have been repealed. The ordinance also includes a severability clause, ensuring that if any portion is deemed invalid by a court, the remainder will remain in effect.
The new restrictions will take effect upon final publication and posting of appropriate signage.
