Jackson Township Council Hosts Community Food Drive in Response to SNAP Disruptions

Jackson Township Council President Mordechai Burnstein and incoming Councilman Chris Pollak co-hosted a community food drive on Sunday at Town Hall, aiming to support local families still recovering from last month’s interruption of federal SNAP benefits during the government shutdown.

Although SNAP payments have since been reinstated, many households continue to struggle to catch up. According to Fulfill, the statewide food bank that recently briefed township officials, an estimated 3,800 Jackson families rely on SNAP assistance for basic groceries.
