Jackson Resident Killed After ATV Hits Dirt Embankment, Goes Airborne

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at approximately 1722 hours, officers from the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a side by side off road vehicle, in an area in the woods known as Lacey Materials.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Michael Damore, a 58-year-old Jackson resident, was traveling in an open dirt area of Lacey Materials, when the 2019 Polaris Razor side by side off road vehicle he was driving, hit a dirt embankment and became airborne. The Polaris Razor impacted the ground with its front end, causing the vehicle to flip end over end several times. Michael Damore was the only occupant of the vehicle. As a result of his injuries, Michael Damore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding agencies included the Forked River Fire Department and MONOC Paramedics. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Lacey Township Crash Team.
