The Jackson Township Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a motorcyclist who allegedly fled from a traffic stop early Saturday morning, June 21.
According to police, Officer Jamison (#303) observed a motorcycle traveling dangerously close to another vehicle and without a visible New Jersey license plate on E. Veterans Highway near the Jackson First Aid building. When the officer attempted to initiate a stop, the rider initially slowed and pulled to the right before suddenly accelerating and fleeing at a high rate of speed in the direction of Lakewood.
Police say the motorcyclist’s actions endangered both himself and other motorists. The individual was later seen turning right onto Whitesville Road toward Toms River. Unconfirmed reports suggest the rider may be known as “Joe” and possibly resides in the Toms River area.
Surveillance footage obtained from the Cedar Swamp Wawa shows the suspect riding a dark-colored sport bike and wearing grey sweatpants, a black jacket, and a backpack.
Anyone with information that could help identify the motorcyclist is encouraged to contact Officer Jamison at mjamison@jacksontwpnj.net or call the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111. Anonymous tips are welcome.
