The Jackson Police Department has introduced a new fleet of patrol vehicles featuring a modern design aimed at both cost savings and improved visibility.
The department’s administration opted for a new single-color scheme to replace its previous two-tone vehicles, a change officials say will save thousands of dollars. Another major shift is the removal of overhead emergency lights, with lighting instead integrated strategically throughout the vehicles to maintain high visibility on the road.
“These new patrol cars are sleek, efficient, and budget-friendly,” the department said in its announcement. “We worked through countless meetings to make sure the design keeps officers visible and effective while saving taxpayer dollars.”
The vehicles also retain the department’s “Patriotic Jackson Police” emblem on both sides, which stands out against the updated color scheme.
In addition to standard patrol vehicles, the Traffic Safety Division is receiving new tactical black-on-black patrol cars, also without overhead lights but equipped with the same lighting system as the main fleet.
Older two-tone cars will remain in use until they are phased out, with the department aiming for a fully modernized fleet in the future.
Police officials thanked the mayor, town council, and administration staff for supporting the project and backing the department’s efforts to remain progressive while controlling costs.
