Jackson Township Police announced Saturday that a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing earlier this week has been located and taken into custody. Officials thanked the public for their assistance in helping track down the individual.
The arrest follows a two-day search for Jaden Thompson, who was wanted on charges including first-degree attempted murder after an incident late Wednesday night at the Paragon Apartments on Larsen Road.
According to police, officers responded to the apartment complex at 11:36 p.m. on November 27 after receiving a report that a woman had been stabbed in the abdomen. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the floor with severe injuries while a family member attempted to aid her. The relative informed police that Thompson was responsible for the attack.
While several officers rendered medical assistance to the victim, additional units searched the apartment and surrounding area. Investigators later determined that Thompson had fled in a black 2012 Nissan Altima, New Jersey registration SUV51A, prompting a broader search effort.
Before the update announcing his capture, police had urged the community to provide any information that could help locate the suspect. Authorities said charges prepared against Thompson include attempted murder in the first degree as well as other related offenses.
The victim’s condition has not yet been publicly released. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
