The Jackson Township Police Department is taking steps to address increasing complaints about parking issues and traffic concerns throughout the township. In response, the department has launched a collaborative effort with the Township Administration, Town Council, Engineering Department, Department of Public Works, and other local groups to enhance road safety.
The initiative will focus on Engineering, Education, and Enforcement to address these concerns. With the start of the school year, the department is particularly focused on ensuring the safety of residents and students.
Police have already begun targeting areas that have generated the most complaints. Traffic details have been established, and officers have started issuing warnings for violations of new traffic ordinances. Some motorists have also received summonses for parking offenses as part of the department’s education process.
The engineering aspect of the initiative involves working with the Department of Public Works to install new signage and paint curbs to improve visibility and awareness of traffic laws. However, with over 100 square miles and hundreds of roadways to cover, officials say these updates will take time.
The department’s efforts have been underway for the past three weeks, and full enforcement is set to begin in the coming weeks. However, education will remain a key focus throughout the process, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the safety of all residents, especially children.
