Jackson Officials Praise DPW For Speedily Clearing Roads Following Snowstorm

Jackson Township experienced its first significant snowstorm of the 2025 winter season over the weekend, with more than 8 inches of snow reported in some areas of the township as temperatures fell into the 20s overnight from Saturday into Sunday.

According to township officials, the Jackson Township Department of Public Works began preparing for the storm early Saturday morning, staging equipment at approximately 2:30 a.m. and deploying plows and salt trucks by 3:00 a.m. Roads across the township were cleared by Sunday evening, allowing for normal travel conditions ahead of the Monday morning commute.

Mayor Jennifer L. Kuhn said the township activated its snow response earlier than usual in anticipation of the storm’s severity. “We took this storm very seriously, and we were prepared,” Kuhn said, adding that crews worked continuously to clear roadways as snowfall accumulated.

The snow response included additional crews, extra salt trucks, and expanded use of contractors, according to township officials. The goal, officials said, was to ensure that all municipal roads were treated and cleared as quickly and safely as possible.

Mayor Kuhn also credited DPW Superintendent Shawn Bolinsky, along with DPW staff, other municipal employees, and contracted snow crews, for their efforts throughout the storm. “These men and women began work at 3:00 a.m. and labored throughout the day and night to ensure our roads were safe for travel,” Kuhn said.

Jackson Township Council President Mordechai Burnstein described the snow response as organized and effective, noting that roads were passable by Sunday night. He said residents were able to travel to work and school on Monday without major disruption.

Township officials said members of the governing body and the mayor’s administration were on-site during the storm to monitor conditions, support crews, and address issues as they arose.

Residents who believe any roadways require additional attention are encouraged to contact the Jackson Township Department of Public Works.
