Jackson Officers, Hatzolah, and Jersey Shore Doctors Honored After Near-Drowning

Jackson Township Police Officers Chris Brown and Mason Kinlan were recognized this week at a pediatric lifesaving event honoring first responders. The event, hosted by Dr. Harry Kopolovich, brought together members of Hatzolah, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and the hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to highlight emergency efforts that saved a child’s life last month.

On August 25, the officers responded to a call reporting a pediatric drowning on Stacy Court. When they arrived, Hatzolah had already begun life-saving measures, successfully resuscitating the child and restoring a pulse and breathing, though the child remained unresponsive.

The patient was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where doctors and staff continued treatment. The child recovered and was released shortly after, returning home in good condition with their family.

Officials emphasized the coordinated response between police, EMS, and hospital staff as critical to the positive outcome. “It was a great effort by all emergency responders involved, working together toward a common goal — the preservation of life,” the department said in a statement.

Dr. Kopolovich hosted the recognition gathering to thank the first responders and medical staff for their teamwork and dedication.
