There’s Donald Trump. There’s Ron DeSantis. And, of course, there’s Jackson resident Albert Harshaw. You may have never heard of him, but Harshaw is seriously running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
On his campaign website, Harshaw – an upstanding member of the Jackson GOP Club – points to his years of service in the military, including stints in Iraq and Kuwait during Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He also received the NATO Medal for serving during the Bosnian conflict, according to his bio.
Harshaw, running under the slogans “Ever Forward” and “Prosperity Through Unity,” says he is a small business owner who previously worked for Kawasaki Rail Car.
His website, AlbertHarshaw4President.com, includes a section on his various policy positions, and asks volunteers to join him in his effort to become president.
With Donald Trump dominating the polls, it is difficult to see how the Jackson resident will manage to break into the upper-tier of presidential candidates. And with the first Republican debate taking place next Wednesday, reaching the qualifications necessary to participate in it appears to be a mountain too high to climb for the upstart candidate.
