Jackson Man Sued After Smashing Car Through School Playground

A Jackson resident is being sued for $16,000 in damages by an insurance company representing the Lakehurst Board of Education after he lost control and smashed into school property.

David M. Rehl,47, reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into parked cars, buses, a fire hydrant, a mail box, and a fence at Lakehurst Elemetary School on March 4th, NJ Advance Media reports.

The lawsuit filed by School Alliance Insurance Fund alleges that Rehl “negligently drove through the playground, striking and damaging the fencing surrounding the parking lot before coming to rest against the parking lot fence.”

Rehl was charged after the crash with DUI, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, and other charges.

Rehl is scheduled to appear in court on August 17 and has a public defender representing him.
