JACKSON: Live-In Nanny Arrested After Violently Shaking, Throwing Newborn Babies

Parents, beware: even trusted caregivers can turn into your worst nightmare.

A Jackson family’s live-in nanny has been arrested after home surveillance footage showed her shaking and tossing a family’s 7-week-old twin girls.

Police said the incident occurred on March 26, when the children’s father contacted police around 12:30 p.m. after his wife reviewed security footage from inside the home. In the video, the nanny could be seen “shaking, tossing and improperly handling” the infants.

The 59-year-old woman – identified by police as Trudy Osborne of Jamaica – was taken into custody at the family’s home following an investigation by Jackson police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The infants were taken to a pediatrician and then transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further evaluation, where they were given a CT scan. B’chasdei hashem, doctors say the babies do not appear to have suffered any damage, despite the abuse they were allegedly subjected to.

Investigators met with the parents at the hospital, where they reviewed the video evidence before placing the nanny under arrest. She was transported to the Jackson police headquarters and later to the Ocean County Jail.

If convicted of her charges, Osborne will face up to 18 months in prison.
