The Jackson Township branch of the Ocean County Library will now be open seven days a week, according to Jackson Councilman Mordy Burnstein.
The Ocean County Library Commission approved the addition of Sunday hours at its Jackson Branch, effective January 5, 2025. The branch will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each Sunday.
Burnstein said the new hour announcement by the Ocean County Board comes after residents have been asking for extended weekend hours due to commitments with residents’ busy weekend schedule.
The extended hours aim to provide greater access to the library’s resources, aligning with the library’s commitment to education and lifelong learning, according to library staff.
“We are meeting the needs of the Jackson community,” said Timothy McDonald, chair of the Ocean County Library Commission.
The new schedule is intended to accommodate students, families, and working professionals who may find it challenging to visit during the week.
The Jackson branch includes a sensory space located on the second floor, offering a quiet, welcoming atmosphere with equipment designed to be soothing and stimulating for patrons of all ages.
